Lake Marion extends through five different counties, each abundant in farmlands, marshes, and Charleston real estate properties that boast beautiful
waterfront views. Lake Marion is home to Santee State Park, which offers locals and visitors the opportunity to camp by the lake. Park visitors
can choose between a campground and a cabin and enjoy the cypress forest in the middle of the lake along with various lakeside activities.
The area is also home to the Santee National Wildlife Refuge, a 15,000-acre refuge that supports many different species of birds, like eagles,
falcons, and hawks, and animals like bobcats, alligators, turkeys, and deer. The refuge is a great place for people of any age to learn about the
wildlife of South Carolina.
